I like the effort put into surviving it
I like it being friday

I like the longer lasting nights
I like the city lights
I like the headlights racing by
I like the rough ride before me
I like my state of fatigue
I like watching others type on their phones like me
I like to wonder if anybody is as deep as me
I like to write it down
I like to feel i'm still growing
I like to please
I like to feel i've won in all categories
I like to feel the moment

a saffron monday

above us the sea rolled and crashed
we huddled together and dreamt of the days we could see the sky
we looked back when we ruled our lives
when we walked the plains
when we could see the sunset under the capricorn
now we stalk the ocean bed and watch the saffron waves roll above our heads
and wait for time to stop
